Winter Makeup Routine

Makeup is a huge part of my everyday life. I personally love makeup, trying new products, and experimenting new techniques and tools. Recently I have found products that really compliment my skin for summer that I am excited to share. Products I look for during this time of year need to be water resistant, full coverage, while giving me a natural looking glow. One thing I have found with makeup is that some products you can go the cheaper route without notice where other items you need to spend more to get better products and thus making your makeup look more flawless and stay on all day.

First I start off by priming my face, primer helps smooth out my pores making my makeup lay flawlessly. I  recently got a new primer in my Winter FabFitFun Box. It is a glow primer that you apply under your makeup to make your skin extra glowy throughout the day. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now and am obsessed with it! In the winter my skin gets drier making it hard for me to obtain a nice glow to the skin. This product you can apply before any products or even mix it with your foundation when in a hurry. This glow primer smooths out my pores, gives me a natural looking glow to my skin, and holds my makeup in place all day.

Another primer that I love and have been using for months is the Becca Cosmetics _____
This primer is amazing! It not only smooths out the skin but it has a shine to it that makes your skin look very glowy even under your makeup. This product I would not mix with a foundation but would just pat into the skin prior to applying foundation. Primer is an essential in my daily routine and I personally love a primer that will smooth out my pores and even out my skin tone but also give me a natural glow.

I have tried so many foundations and finally found my holy grail foundation. I have very oily skin, so a matte foundation is a necessity for me. This foundation last all day long, is full coverage and buildable and applies so effortlessly onto the skin. I’ve tried it in every season now and it does not fail! Highly recommend if you are looking for a new foundation.

Another foundation i have recently tried and is easily my second favorite is the Urban Decay Naked foundation. This foundation is also a matte finish, full buildable coverage, and feels very soft on the skin. It is a lighter consistency than the esteé lauder foundation but also lasts all day and is a great foundation.

Another product I have tried a bunch of different brands of is Concealer. Concealer is a huge part of my makeup routine. Whether I do a full coverage face or a light coverage face I always put concealer on. I feel like concealer under the eyes as well as on the forehead and  chin are a must in anyones make up routine. This concealer is by far the best, it is a little more drying than some other I have tried but for me and my oily skin it works great! This concealer goes such  long way and truly conceals any blemishes and highlights the face. I always go with a shade lighter than my foundation to really brighten certain spots on my face.

Another concealer that I would say is very similar to the Taste Shape Tape is the Born This Way Concealer. Is comes in a bit bigger of a bottle, and like the shape tape a little goes a long way. I would say the born this way concealer is a tiny bit thicker than the shape tape, but does a great job of concealing dark circles or problem areas on your face.

The next step I do is bronze my face. Bronzer in my opinion is one of the items you can buy cheap and it doesn’t make too much of a difference. Since I have used liquid products up until now, I almost use the bronzer to set my makeup. Bronzer I have found gives warmth to the skin, this is one step I did not do until about 2 years ago and it has changed my makeup life! Since my cheeks are my most insecure spot on my face I thought by adding color to them it would make my cheeks more noticeable but the opposite effect happened. This bronzer is kind of new in my makeup drawer, I have been trying out a few of them and this is one I like the shade of best.

Another item that is more new to my makeup routine is blush. Again I felt if I put color on my cheeks that it would make them more noticeable but blush has become one of my favorite parts of my makeup routine. I use NARS which can be a little more of a pricy option but I got this blush in May and it has lasted me such  a long time that I think it is a great investment. If you have high cheek bones like myself I highly recommend adding blush into your daily routine.

Once I bronze and blush my face it is time to set my makeup. I have found that setting your makeup is one of the items you do not want to go cheap on. I have been using and loving Laura Mercier for about a year now and it is easily my favorite. It lasts a long time, an is worth every penny. Most setting powders that I have tried turn your makeup a totally different shade or moves your makeup around when applying it. This setting power doesn’t do either of those and keeps your makeup in place all day long.

The last thing In do before i move onto eyes in highlight. I don’t highlight until after I set my face because my setting spray makes my face matte and I like to keep my highlighter as sparkly and shiny as possible. I personally love a good highlight and this Becca Cosmetics Highlighter is amazing because you can use a little for a subtle highlight or build it up for more of an intense highlight.

Next I move onto brows. Brows for me don’t need to be crazy expensive either, I have used this brow pomade for years and it is amazing! It sculpts and smoothes down the brows keeping them in place and looking great all day long. I just recently added in the morphe brow pencil in which I use before the pomade to form the shape I want for my brows and hen fill it in with the pomade.

Some people do their eyeshadow first but I do it almost last. I personally love eyeshadow and having multiple palettes to choose from. The two I use most often lately are the Naked Palette and Huda Beauty Palette. For my blue eyes i like the browns of the naked palette and the pinks of the Huda Beauty Palette. Sometimes I will will mix the two palettes to get the look I am going for. I love both palettes, each have very pigmented colors.

The next product is one I have been using for YEARS!! Mascara is one of those products that I think you could go the cheaper route and I actually prefer a cheaper option over something more expensive. This L’oreal mascara is amazing! I have been using it since high school, and it has not let me down! It gives you volume and is buildable, the brush is very soft and applies the mascara very nicely to your lashes. If you are looking for a new mascara I cannot recommend this enough.

Last but not least is setting spray. This has been a huge game changer in my makeup routine. I used to not use setting spray and now I cannot live without it. I use the Nyx Matte setting spray, they also have a dewy setting spray but with my skin being naturally oily it makes itself dewy throughout the day so I prefer the matte. If you are unfamiliar with setting spray, it basically sets your makeup and smooths out the look of any cakiness.

Another setting spray that I love but is more pricy is the Urban Decay all nighter spray. This is a great setting spray and really keeps your makeup in place all day and night. I have a small travel size that I use when on the go or when I take overnight trips.

Last thing before running out the door or most days in the car, is lips. I personally love Kylie Lip Kits, its nice to have the lip liner as well as the lipstick all in one. I do line my entire lips because I feel like the lipstick stays on better when it has something to grab onto versus just applying it straight to your lips. If you do want to try out Kylie Lip Kits I do recommend the velvet kits over the matte kits. Both are great but the matte lipsticks are very drying to your lips, and in the winter you want as much hydration as possible, especially for your lips.

My makeup products don’t change too much from season to season but there are a few products I introduce or take away to keep my skin looking flawless through out the winter. All of these products are ones that I love and use to keep my skin looking glowy, and flawless in the winter.
